Why we do not cut a double coat.

Cutting a double-coated breed's hair really short can actually increase shedding later as well because the way their coat and skin function is so disrupted when the coat is clipped very short.

The texture of the coat will change when you shave it and may become thicker or thinner than usual. Shaving damages the dog's coat and its natural hair growth cycle, resulting in hair taking twice as long to come back or not growing back at all. It can grow in patchy, fuzzy, coarse, or stringy.

• Cytology Testing: Essential for breeding, our testing services provide valuable insights into the reproductive health of your pets. Cytology is a procedure which involves inserting a swab into the female dogs vulva and scraping cells off the vaginal wall. These cells are then analysed under a microscope to determine if the female is in Estrous and is ovulating. This helps with the decision of when to mate. You can also see if a dog is coming out of Estrous and the opportunity to mate has been missed.
• Progesterone Testing: Progesterone testing is a procedure that involves taking blood from the female, spinning down the blood to separate the serum and then putting this serum into a machine which then gives you a result. There is a scale which determines when the best time is to mate.
• Ultrasound Scanning: This involves a non-evasive procedure, post-mating, to confirm whether your pet is pregnant. Using ultrasound can not only confirm pregnancy but also give an indication of litter size, which can be very important is certain breeds of dogs.
• Rapid Pregnancy Testing for Dogs: This provides an accurate fast result. The test has an accuracy of 96% in all dog breeds and sizes with results in 15 minutes. This will also identify whether the bitch is having a pseudopregnancy (phantom pregnancy), where she displays of maternal behaviour combined with physical signs of pregnancy and is not actually pregnancy
